Getting there with my gig history now, all the gigs I remember going to, from 1987 up to about now.
It's an obvious step from my Best gigs of all time post.
Well that's the theory, so there's A LOT missing.
I have added details from the big bag of old gig tickets that I gathered while I was in London, + a box of old concert tickets and things from Mum and Dad's loft.
Also got lots of gaps regarding festival lineups, they'll prob'ly stay missing, it's so hard to remember. There's a stack missing where I've lost tickets or never had them, most of the guestlist actions during my NME and Popex years and that.
Yeah I know it's a bit nerdy, let's let that go though, I'm having fun remembering these things.
Probably I've not started scanning the tickets in yet Of course I have scanned the tickets now[^But I've lost the bag of tickets before I scanned them all in!]...

Think I have the date right, sure it was the day before Oasis.…
Tue Nov 29 1994
Sort of folky thing, I'm sure I went to this one. Definitely came to see them here once in the early '90s with Nick Palmer from Nixdorf!…
Sat Nov 19 1994
Just went for the day, + we picked the worst day by far seems, Red Hot Chili Peppers disappointed. I remember They Might Be Giants + Echobelly + Ginger Wildhearts playing with a broken arm.Look at the lineups on the other days :-( I remember picking this day because it was the most rock.…
Sun Aug 28 1994
Portsmouth Festival / Heineken Festival, a freebie, Chris Wilson's birthday. The Pogues also played on the Sunday, I think it was without Shane McGowan though.I may have listed Shakin' Stevens on another date, so this is definitely the…
Thu Aug 18 1994
Wedding Present + Credit To The Nation + Senseless Things. I know I went, I seem to remember one band did not though. One more band advertised somewhere, ah not S⁎M⁎A⁎S⁎H^S⁎M⁎A⁎S⁎H were to pull out of the same festival in 1995, no wonder I mixed them up.] it was Adorable[^That is the name of the band.], think it was them that did not show, were they replaced by someone?Just found this advertised in an [NME of 9/7/94 too.Very close to my birthday. Coincidentally I spent this same day of the year in a different Walpole Park, in Ealing. This one was Gosport though, town of my birth. I was also at this same Gosport event the same day the following year.…
Fri Jul 29 1994
Mat Welcome + Parrot, cabaret night, I went to a lot of these. Probably Lee Hurst compering.Freak power was one of Fatboy Slims bands of course.Details from an ad in Insomnia, local student mag of the time.…
Thu Jul 28 1994
I loved the Sultans of Ping but only saw them TWO times[^I am wrong here, seen them more than TWO times, just bad memory.], this must have been the second time.…
Thu Jul 21 1994
Tue Jul 19 1994
plus Catatonia. We liked Salad + saw them quite a few times. I didn't like Catatonia as much so they did crop up quite a lot.…
Wed Jul 06 1994
My first Glastonbury festival, did we go in my van? Or was this the one where I'd a last minute bad back + Ro drove in his Volvo?Hard to fault the lineup on the NME stage... Blur, Pulp, Oasis, Beastie Boys, Bjork, Manics, Radiohead, etc. Britpop-tastic.I see Stewart Lee was there, so pretty sure I did not see him…
Thu Jun 23 1994
With support from The Iliad, I don't really remember either.…
Tue Jun 07 1994
Aerosmith, who I hardly even remember. Not a great lineup, though the biggest one ever, over two stages. I enjoyed Wildhearts + Terrorvision. Ginger Wildheart threw his guitar into the crowd at the end of their set.Aha:Main stage:+ Aerosmith+ Extreme+ Sepultura+ Pantera+ Therapy?+ Pride & GlorySecond Stage:+ The Wildhearts+ Terrorvision+ Skin+ Biohazard+ Cry of Love+ HeadswimI went with a friend from work, we slept briefly in my van so I think I forgot my sleeping bag. Think I got up early again very knackered to drive home.…
Sat Jun 04 1994
Plus Baby Chaos. This was ace, Chrissy + I went.Saw Dub War some time about now at this venue, and I know they toured with Shed Seven so not sure it was this one...…
Tue May 31 1994
Don't think i attended the '95 event so I was definitely at this one, Inspiral Carpets + Boo Radleys + Elastica + Terrorvision + Chumbawamba + Dodgy + Gunshot + more.Looks like Pop Will Eat Itself pulled out on the day because of technical problems. God Machine were also due to play so guitarist Jimmy Fernandez died a few days before the gig.I originally had this down as the 27th, but found the ticket now and that sorts out a clash. I think it was a multi day event (one day jazz, one day dance, one day indie) + I only went to this day.…
Sat May 28 1994
Cabaret, with Nan Vernon, Wasp Factory, Kevin Eldon, George Egg, Raymond and Mr Timpkins Revue, The Really Band + compere Lee Hurst. We went to this every month for a while. What a bargain for £7 how did they do it? I think the earlier ones were only a fiver. Wasp Factory were managed by Eddie Izzard I think. Kevin Eldon + George Egg are proper comedy names I'd love to see again now, reading this a quarter of a century later.…
Fri May 27 1994
First of the Portsmouth Venue Campaign freebies helping out on the door (first one I attended, not their first one). Plus Gunshot, Attilla the Stockbroker, + Spot the Poet.…
Tue May 17 1994
High camp at the Guildhall. Part of the Whole World Tour. I don't remember who the special guests were.…
Sun May 15 1994
Cabaret possibly, with Martin Coyote + Paul B Edwards…
Fri May 13 1994
Plus Freaks Of Desire, Local!I must have a ticket or a mention in my fanzine of this, but also just found it in NME listings for this week.…
Wed May 11 1994
Plus support from Dig.I originally had this down as the 2nd so I was at Oasis that day.Don't remember this one clearly, though I do remember seeing Henry Rollins spoken word around this time too.…
Tue May 03 1994
I was at this one. These "oasis" are going to do well for themselves I think. Ones to watch.Funny to think I could just pop in the venue and pick up a ticket after I'd heard of them on the radio.…
Mon May 02 1994
With Mutha's Day Out and Valve. I'm sure the last Portsmouth Venue Campaign show that I did was Terrorvision, but these dates don't line up at all. Terrorvision must have played the Pyramids more than once. Aha, the last one I went to was Terrorvision + it was in July 1996!…
Sun May 01 1994
Plus The Gigolo Aunts. At the time a record price paid for a gig as I bought an extra one from a tout for friend Sophie who was visiting that day.…
Tue Apr 12 1994
Cabaret, hosted by Lee Hurst, with TV Smith, Dave Spikey, Pooka, Crisis Twins and almost certainly the Raymond and Mr Timpkins revue. Originally I had this down as the 22nd for some reason. I always get the dates wrong on these cabaret gigs, on a lot of my gigs actually. Cannot find anything out about the Crisis Twins, but Dave Spikey is one of the writers of Phoenix Nights.…
Fri Mar 25 1994
plus Baby Chaos. Another one I don't remember. Think I worked / volunteered at it.…
Tue Mar 22 1994
A VW show at Sandown Park. More sedate than a lot of them, I think a lot of it was indoors. VolksWorld was the magazine I used to subscribe to. The VW Beetle was gone by this stage so must have gone in the VW Camper.…
Sat Mar 19 1994
Superunknown warm up show at Shepherds Bush... pretty huge venue for a warm up show now I come to think of it. First gig at the reopened venue I think, so a special gig to relaunch the venue rather than just a warm up show for Soundgarden. Sure I won tickets from Radio One.Plus Spoon Man, some sort of spoon based street artist.Drove up in the beetle, and I remember taking the distributor cap off when I parked it, super advanced security measure. Where did I park it though? Near Shepherds Bush? No idea.I did win tickets! Don't remember this gimmick of the venue not being announced in advance.…
Sat Mar 12 1994
Another Portsmouth Venue Campaign show. That question mark does not indicate uncertainty on my part (though I know there is a lot of that in this gigography) it is part of the band's name.…
Thu Mar 03 1994
Desree, John Otway, Lemontrees, Sean Lock^Now did they misspell this as Sean Locke originally or was it just me? Aha, it was them (or possibly him) as that's how it is spelled on the ticket.], Uncoordinated Juggler and compere Lee Hurst... how did they do all this for a fiver or whatever it was..?Aha it was six quid. Still!Looks like members of the Lemon Trees went on to greater success with [Robbie Williams, Noel Gallagher, and The Black Crowes.…
Fri Feb 25 1994
Not my normal sort of show, but so keen to show how varied my musical tastes were I even bought the t-shirt.…

I did see them at least twice at the Wedge. Found the ticket now.…
Thu Feb 03 1994
Compered by Lee Hurst and featuring Sam Brown, Tommy Cockles (Simon Day), Steve Gribbin, Sidi Bou Said, The Four Chaps and possibly more. Think this was the first of the monthly cabaret nights that we went to. £6 to get in, bargain. Who were the special guests? I think Raymond And Mr Timpkins Review were also on the bill.I am an idiot and transcribed the date incorrectly, *I think* I was at Echobelly in Southampton on the 22nd...…
Fri Jan 28 1994
With Echobelly. Saw them here this year, was it this night though^Losing faith in this, would I have come to the Joiners this early in britpop times? This was before even Oasis played here. Maybe I saw them here in 1995.]? I thought [Echobelly headlined the night Chris and I went. https://www.echobelly.com has it this was the only time they played the Joiners though[^Removed old echobelly.com/gigs/gigs-archive/ link here.]. I also had it I was at a cabaret too on this date, but realise now I had the date of that wrong.…
