1992 Gigography of Paul Clarke

PaulyGigography ≫ 1992

Getting there with my gig history now, all the gigs I remember going to, from 1987 up to about now. It's an obvious step from my Best gigs of all time post. Well that's the theory, so there's A LOT missing. I have added details from the big bag of old gig tickets that I gathered while I was in London, + a box of old concert tickets + things from Mum and Dad's loft. Also got lots of gaps regarding festival lineups, they'll probably stay missing, it's so hard to remember. There's a stack missing where I've lost tickets or never had them, most of the guestlist actions during my NME and Popex years and that. Yeah I know it's a bit nerdy, let's let that go though, I'm having fun remembering this stuff. At least I've not started scanning the tickets in yet Of course I have scanned the tickets now[^But I've lost the bag of tickets before I scanned them all in!]...

Punt and Dennis @ Portsmouth Guildhall

The less funny part of the Mary Whitehouse Experience, still we completed the set. Also saw David Baddiel + Rob Newman at the same venue a few days before. Not sure who has the best legacy of the four.…

Baddiel and Newman @ Portsmouth Guildhall

The cooler half of the Mary Whitehouse Experience (or so it seemed at the time), Rob Newman + David Baddiel.…

Atom Seed @ The Marquee

This one might have been too late for me, but I know I saw Atom Seed a lot, right up until they stopped playing, so I was prob'ly there. Just found it on concert archives^Removed old concertarchives.org/bands/creaming-jesus link here.] + they have a scanned ticket + copy of The Organ [fanzine that mentions it. With support form Creaming Jesus. I remember that name too.…

Bug Bash @ Castle Donington

Not Beetle Bash, + not Bug Jam, so Bug Bash. Maybe some arguments over names? I seem to think this was the one that was more about the rave + less about the cars though. On for three days.…

Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction @ University of Portsmouth

Past their prime (mover), who exactly were the Love Reaction at this stage? Still a treat though, even if enjoying it slightly ironically by this stage. One of them was called Susan I think and he was younger than the others.…

Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert @ Wembley Stadium

The remaining members of Queen, Guns'n'Roses, Metallica, David Bowie, Elton John, Spinal Tap ect ect... not a bad lineup. Who knew that Robert Plant asked for his contribution not to be repeated? + who remembers Bob Geldof being there? Not me.…

Zodiac Mindwarp and Terrorvision

Some time around this date, based on other tour dates, I went to Brighton to stay with a friend Claire + see Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction. I remember the support was Terrorvision, + I liked them, + I bought their CD single at the gig. I don't have a ticket + I have found no trace of this actual gig, so I see other dates on the tour. I'm sure I remember it being The Zap Club. I have seen listings showing they played at the Pink Toothbrush in Essex on February 12th 1992 + Middlesbrough Arena on January 30th, so all I know for sure is it was not those dates.Terrorvision's deso release was the Thrive EP, in February 1992. It reached number 100 in the charts + was deleted a week later. The release was promoted by a tour of the UK supporting Zodiac Mindwarp and Claytown Troupe, and they also played a one-off London gig with L7.…
