2023 Gigography of Paul Clarke

PaulyGigography ≫ 2023

Getting there with my gigography now, every gig I've been to, from '87 up to about now. It's an obvious step from my Best Gigs Ever post. Well that's the theory, so there's A LOT missing. I have added details from the big bag of old gig tickets that I gathered while I was in London, and a box of old concert tickets + things from Mum + Dad's loft. Also got a bundle of gaps regarding festival lineups, they'll probably stay missing, it's so hard to remember. There's a lot missing where I've lost tickets or never had them, most of the guestlist actions during my NME + Popex years + that. Yeah I know it's very nerdy, let's let that go though, I'm having fun remembering this stuff. At least I've not started scanning the tickets in yet Of course I have scanned the tickets now[^So I've lost the bag of tickets before I scanned them all in!]...

Strawbs @ The Tower Theatre Conversion

Well, it's just round the corner.Strawbs leader and songwriter Dave Cousins has chosen The Tower for his penultimate live show before bowing out in front of 25,000 people at Fairport Convention’s Cropredy Festival. Why? Because Folkestone is where Dave Cousins likes to spend his time!Strawbs are mentioned by the influential All Music Guide in the same breath as bands like Yes, King Crimson, + the Moody Blues. The Guide describes Dave Cousins as: “the most talented Dylan influenced songwriter to come out of England”.Strawbs celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2019 with the United Nations Singers + a 32 piece orchestra conducted by legendary producer Tony Visconti. Visconti said: “Strawbs had two amazing keyboard players in Rick Wakeman + Blue Weaver.”It is well known that Rick Wakeman left Strawbs to join Yes. But wait! Blue Weaver left Strawbs to join the Bee Gees! Blue played on six consecutive No 1 singles including Night Fever, Jive Talking + How Deep Is Yr Love, + Satu…
