I found another old NME gig guide. This one has a mention of Sandgate in it too.

It says Baby Bird but should be without the space I think.

Sheffield's quirky but wildly prolific Baby Bird rounding off a year of keeping the nation's pressing plants in business with a key date headlining the Splash! Club, their last show before appearing in January's Brats gig jamboree.

I did not attend this one afaik, but if I keep tabs on things I wasn't at it helps me work out what I attended.

I saw Babybird at least 3 times; Baby Bird @ University of Surrey Students Union (1996), PJ Harvey @ Mean Fiddler ('96), and Baby Bird @ London Astoria ('98), though I still have some bragging tagging to do so this may go up.
