Camden Underworld 174 Camden High Street, Camden. London NW1 0NE
A radio one show, was billed as Longpigs and Fluffy and Menswear were surprise headliners. The glory days of britpop! They got in big trouble for swearing live on the radio. Think I have the day right, let me know if you know better...
Hmm probably don't have the date right as these scanned in tour dates1 have it that Menswear were playing Brighton on that day. They could have come up here after that I suppose as they likely all lived up in North London at the time.
Got a reference here2 that says it was this date, and that they played:
So there is a bootleg of it out there. That "banter" must have been the swearing that got them in trouble. I can remember the situation but I don't remember exactly what was said.
I attended this one, more from this year in my gigography for 1995. I have seen Menswear at least four times; Glastonbury ('95), Portsmouth Pyramids (1995), Camden Underworld ('95), + Essential Festival @ Stanmer Park ('96), though I still have some bragging tagging to do so this may go up. Part of all the gigs I went to from '87 to 2024. A natural step from my Best gigs of all time blog post. Yeah I know very nerdy, let's let that go though, I'm having fun remembering these things.
Wed Nov 1 1995
Other gigs at Camden Underworld I attended are Love / Hate (2023), The Datsuns ('02), The Darkness (2002), The Datsuns ('02), Gilby Clarke ('02), The Darkness (2001), The Rub ('01), Frank Black ('00), + Atom Seed ('91).
Other gigs at Camden Underworld include Dogs of War (Motley Crue) (2023).
It's underneath The Worlds End pub (where surely all London music related meat-ups happen), by Camden tube station.
