Actual picture of me actually at this festival! Think I went to this one with friend Alan from Southampton who worked at the cinema I lost touch with after he went travelling.
Also think I learned fire breathing at this festival.
I can't claim to be a big fan of Warren G but his song always reminds me of happy times in Southampton. It was after the Frog and Frigate had closed, everyone used to go to some provincial nightclub in Southampton for some reason. Hearing Warren G was the sign that there's going to be a three song indie section coming up, most likely featuring Nirvana, so get towards the dance floor...
- Remember this being advertised but apparently he was a no-show, same as The Senseless Things and The Wildhearts. This must be the one where Mark Keds had joined the Wildhearts...

I saw Suede at least 14 times; Phoenix 1995 @ Avon Park Raceway (1995), Shepherds Bush Empire (1999), Sound Republic (1999), V99 @ Hylands Park ('99), David Bowie @ Old Trafford Cricket Ground (2002), Electric Ballroom ('02), The Scala (2002), Glastonbury (2003), London Astoria (2003), Royal Albert Hall ('10), Suede "Suede" @ Brixton Academy (2011), Suede "Dog Man Star" @ Brixton Academy ('11), Southampton Guildhall (2019), + Suede and Manics @ Dreamland (2024). Part of every gig I went to from '87 to 2025. An obvious step from my Best gigs of all time blog post. Yeah I know a bit nerdy, let's let that go though, I'm having fun reminiscing about this stuff.
