Blog2026 ≫ Golf day

Today been back to Folkestone again several times. First a very hot parkrun. Then to Steep Street for a lovely coffee and vegan cake thing. Then to a music history walk round Folkestone, more later 1, ending with the unveiling of a new mural and plaques at Skuba, opposite The Leas Cliff Hall.

Unveiling of the guitar heroes at The Leas Cliff Hall wall, with two of the organisers and artist El Davo

Then back later to drop the boys off at the beach to play mini golf, then completely back round again to pick up a nephew who we thought wasn't coming, then after I'd dropped them off to pick up the bro in law and other nephews. When I got to them they said "oh yeah forgot to say we don't need a lift", so back to meet the boys. Then couldn't park anywhere, so round and round town and back to the Leas Cliff Hall car park. The place I'd parked in the morning for parkrun and thought at the time "I wonder if I'll be back here should I get an all day ticket..?". Golf was good though, twelve holes, not too crazy, but fun. Grandpa who knew most about golf came first. It wasn't just putting though, there were some tunnels and things, and a super tube (that's a Putshack reference). Then we all had a walk round the harbour arm, got the boys some food, and home.

Average Chinese takeaway, bit disappointed really. I was trying a new place with a really promising looking menu. Lots of vegan choice, so I got too much, but it is not as good as the last Chinese I had been using. I will give this one another go. Now TV, and early night as wife and T2 are up very early to go to Norway.

These last couple of posts are very sparse on details, I will be back with more. Hot and tired.

Partly cloudy and a gentle breeze, 13 - 21℃.

Estimated 3242 cups of coffee ☕️ from my espresso machine 2 prob'ly comes to 78.6p a cup (including 4+ years supply of the actual coffee ☕️ and now servicing 2 but not the 'leccy).

  1. Hmm how best to fit in the more later? I think you have to search for "Folk Of The Stone" on facebook to find out more about these guys, I'm not on it. They have been putting up their own blue plaques about the town for famous gig venues of the past. I'd spotted the one with The Who and Fleetwood Mac and Black Sabbath on at Tofts, and the Senseless Things one at Bottoms. I had not see the Black Flag one at Pipers nor the Rolling Stones one at Boots! Also found out on the walk that Elton John performed at Pipers in his original band before he was Elton John. I will do more updating and linking here.
