Blog2020 ≫ Pick of the pops chart rundown of 2019

I found this post the other day, my chart run down of the year 2018. Remember how weird and disappointing it was, as none of the tracks were really mine? Will it be any different this year? I hope so, as I've had the new Sonos set up since then and think I've chosen more of the music. I've also been "scrobbling" from more of my devices (that's what they call it when you log the details of what you have been listening to for some reason) including my phone and laptop. I have not seen the list of tracks of the year, so this is as exciting for me writing this as it is for you reading it...

  1. Keep The Cosmic Trigger Happy - Super Furry Animals
  2. I'm Still Standing - Elton John
  3. Africa - Toto
  4. Titanium (feat. Sia) - David Guetta
  5. Crazy Crazy Nights - KISS
  6. Kickstart My Heart - Motley Crue
  7. Livin' on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
  8. Alone - Marshmello
  9. Happier - Marshmello
  10. Faded - Alan Walker

Hmm, not much better is it? Strangely the Super Furry Animals track has had three times as many listens as it's nearest rival, so something probably up there. I do like them a lot but I don't think I really listened to that track more than anything else. Then to be fair I didn't listen to Elton John that much either, that one is mostly down to thing two who becaume a bit obsessed with this track, and sang it at the school talent show. Toto is all me, and to the point where others are in the house are getting annoyed, and so is Motley Crue, and so mostly is KISS. Those are the only tracks that I purposely put on, they're definitely my bit of the chart, though the boys went crazy (crazy) for KISS for a while. Titanium by David Guetta is one of Clare's pump songs. Then Marshmello and alan Walker are both from computer games I think, and favourites of the boys.

I didn't have much influence over the songs played in the house again this year did I?

If we look only at artists, instead of individual tracks it probably reflects me a bit more:

  1. KISS
  2. Super Furry Animals
  3. Suede
  4. The Beatles
  5. Foo Fighters
  6. Megadeth
  7. Mötley Crüe
  8. The Smiths
  9. Joy Division
  10. Queen

I'm not going to bother with albums of the year, it's a lot of compilations really. I could maybe backfill this and work out the real albums. But maybe not. Maybe worth mentioning the artists in the top ten who have not previously been mentioned, I listened to a lot of Skid Row, Dirty Pretty Things, Metallica, Traveling Wilburys, Nirvana, and Morrissey. I've mostly deleted all my Morrissey tracks now as he's too much of a dick, so don't expect him to show up next year.

UPDATE: I listened to "Keep The Cosmic Trigger Happy" and realise it is a short track with a huge gap at the end and then a hidden bit. Very annoying in the age of digital playback really. I can see that this might cause an issue where we think the music has stopped, and start it again, and think it's not working and so on.
