Blog2020 ≫ New Years Eve at the Inn Doors

Last night was a success, lovely evening. I had made plans with friends to go out a bit later than usual. This was very confusing. We'd had chilli for dinner, and then I sat and watched Top Gear with the boys for a while, and though the clock said it was the sort of time I'd usually be coming back from the Inn Doors, I had not even left yet! I couldn't wait any longer and was there just after 8pm. It was quite busy, though the crowd really went in waves, ebbing and flowing. Or is it just tides that ebb and flow? Anyway, had a lovely evening, correctly paced so I was not too squiffy. Saw in the new year there, then home to bed. Clare had woken thing one up to see the new year in, but they were both asleep again when I came in.

Up not quite as early as usual today for a bonus parkrun. They started later at 10:30 and I came 31st out of a record field of 3451 with a not bad time of 21'48. I cycled to2 and from the parkrun3 and could have done better if I'd not started right at the back. I would have been in great time but bumped into a friend in Sandgate and we walked the last bit together, meaning I was in a rush to lock up the bike and missed a good grid position.

Three more weeks until my 50th run and the free t-shirt. This will be in my potentially record-breaking month as I'm not drinking, oh yes. Or should I not worry about going for a personal best that day and do it in fancy dress instead? There was a Spiderman and someone dressed as a banana today, marking run milestones.

So far my personal challenges for the month are on track. Veganuary of course, Dryanuary too, and Runuary. I think that is a thing, it must be, I'm going to try and run every day this month. What other -nuary can I add to the list next year?

After parkrun we had lunch and went round Jim's to try and set up his new Nespresso machine. I don't think the milk frother bit is working so I will have to send it back.

Clare out tonight, think I can watch Last Leg or something. Then back to work as normal for both of us tomorrow.

dryanuary: Not drinking for the month of January.

runuary: Running at least 5k every day for the month of January.
