Blog2017 ≫ Awesome Brighton weekender

Fitted so much in to our weekend in Brighton, that was all geared around a Sean Lock show at Brighton Dome. Loved it all, even the weather was better than expected.

I can see from my bank statement that we went to Harvester, Ten Green Bottles, VBites, White Stuff, The Chili Pickle, Vegetarian Shoes, and Pizza Express, and also recall enjoying Cafe Coho, Black Mocha, The Evening Star, The Old Ship Hotel, The Colonade Bar, The Bath Arms, and more fun places...

Got an earlier train than we originally planned, which was good, it's a two and a half hour journey there. On the train at eight, in plenty of time even though we turned back part way there because I'd forgotten to put my jacket on. Parked for free by the station, and we're ready to, coffees in hand from the kiosk at Folkestone West. A fairly busy train too, people mostly heading up to London for the day, but we were changing at Ashford on the route that takes us via Eastbourne and Lewes among other places.

If it'd been just Clare and I travelling I think we'd have stopped in a pub right away. I would have tried anyway, even with it not being 11am yet when we arrived, but with the two boys we went to the hotel first. Could not checked in but ditched a couple of the bags, just had to carry the one heavy one around that was going on an onward journey with Thing One and Thing Two. Mum and Dad were already in town and been shopping, they met us near the hotel and we mooched on down towards the pier.

A nicer day than had been forecast on the Saturday. Got the boys unlimited passes on the fairground on the pier, seemed good at first, then doubtful, but ultimately very good. It's 10 for unlimited use for the kids, so we got only them tickets. Then spotted that on a lot of the rides Thing Two had to be accompanied by an adult; by someone bigger than Thing One anyway. So was it going to be a bit of a swizz and we'd need tickets too? No, he could be accompanied by an adult for free on any of the rides, so everyone could have a go with him. Plenty enough rides for both of them, was only one that Thing One wanted to go on but could not. They got their fill of various things, inflatable slides and the like, was worth the tenner each, which Dad paid anyway, cheers!

We promised to go back into the arcade later as we ran out of time, but we did not, what a bad Dad. I have promised them a go in another arcade near here soon to make up, hope I can find one with as many 2p machines as Brighton has so it doesn't cost me much.

Will carry on with more detail in separate updates as I find time. Will surely fizzle out before covering everything that we did, as is always the way.
