Blog ≫ 2012 ≫ Walter Clarke

Hi Paul, my name is Andy Regan, I'm an ecclesiastical artist from County Longford. Now I know it's a bit of a long shot but I've been trying to research & uncover more information on works by Walter Clarke, It's not for any particular project or reason, other than that I just have an interest in the fact that while his name is very well-known (being in Harry's shadow) the only reference I can find to any of his work are the murals he painted in Ballymahon church in my home county which are sadly no longer visible.

I would be elated if you could enlighten me with any further information on poor forgotten Walter.

Regards

Andy

Who is in this Dublin 1910s picture? According to Dora Forster, it was taken in an annex to her grandmother's residence in Ranelagh and includes: Back row, standing, second from right: May Barden (her aunt) (rest of back row unidentified). Front row, from left, sitting: Hugh Barden (uncle); William Barden (father); Dorothy (Dolly) Barden (aunt); one unidentified woman; (possibly) Dora Barden (grandmother). Or, according to Ciaran Mac Gonigal: it was taken in Room No 2 in the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art and includes: Back row, left, standing: Nassau Blair-Browne, (rest of back row unidentified). Front row, left to right, sitting: Walter Clarke and Harry Clarke; and possibly Margaret Crilly, Minnie Crilly and Stella Solomons.
