Blog ≫ 2010 ≫ John Ings Daysh and Mary Dash Clarke

Just found this ancient post1 on genealogy.com, I wonder if our Mary Dash Clarke is in some way connect with this Daysh family...

John Ings DAYSH married Elizabeth CLARKE on the 9th Feb 1833 in Wickham, Hampshire. The IGI record of John's christening shows his parents as John INGS and Sarah. I cannot confirm the surname WICKHAM as you suggest. John Ings DAYSH and his siblings were born in Wickham, Hampshire - I wonder if the surname has become confused with the place - i.e. Sarah of Wickham.

John Ings DAYSH and Elizabeth CLARKE emigrated to New Zealand on the "SS Gertrude", 19 Jun 1841, sailing from Gravesend in Kent.

rootsweb.com ... Gertrude.htm2 shows the ships passengers list including...

Daysh John Ings 33 Shepherd

Elizabeth 28

George 9

Elizabeth 7

Susan 6

Richmond 4

Mary Ann 2

John 3 months

I am also trying to figure out the INGS/DAYSH connection - the parish records for the children of John INGS and Sarah show the childrens surnames as INGS (Alias DAYSH).
