Blog2026 ≫ Turns out there is a badge for that

That's thirty days in a row of running 5k then. Garmin counts it as an achievement if you run more than a mile each day, so maybe I should dilute Runuary 1 slightly next year. Still get this badge.

Run streak badge from Garmin

Today was fine, so much nicer than yesterday. Still winter obviously but no rain and no wind. Only hiccup today was a disturbing phone call part way round, from the wife. T1 said that the gig he is planning to go to in March, the gig that was on Thursday AND Friday so we said definitely to get tickets for the Friday so as not to disturb school, that gig, turns out they already have tickets and it's for the Thursday. We can still make it work, I can still cramp his style by staying late in London after work and making sure he gets on the right train, that is not really a problem. It does seem to me to be on the same day as a university open day so if that is right he cannot go to the gig. This will cause some tension, I hope I have the open day date wrong 2.

Our team won the quiz again yesterday. I say "our" team, obviously not mine, I don't go, but the other three go every week, and they win every week. There was another question about the Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack, what are the chances? Right in their wheelhouse. When they stop winning I will stop calling it "our team". As it's on a Tuesday I'm unlikely ever to go to that one. We are all going to a quiz at The Ship tomorrow, and eating our tea there too. This sounds like a bigger affair, a harder quiz, will see how we get on.

Just a work day in London including a lunch run in London to get through first, then that quiz with no drinking, then it's pay day! And then it's the weekend with double Suede! And a trip to Portchester! And then home again on Sunday, too late to go for a drink or anything so the first week of February will be quite dry too.

Should I take my shorts at the weekend and try and do FebRUNary 3..? I have not got fitter or faster or less fat at all in January.

Thirty years ago today I went to see Ocean Colour Scene in Guildford. I don't really like them, but it was free.

Light cloud and light winds, 2 - 8℃.

  1. Running at least 5k every day for the month of January.
  2. And just found out no, it was his mistake, he's going to the uni open day instead of the gig. No drama. I think he's just as excited about that as an experience. There will be more gigs.
  3. Not a thing.
