Blog2024 ≫ Runuary day 19

Lunchtime run to Hythe and back again. Faster than yesterday, and faster than this day last year and the year before! But see I was slightly faster in previous years.

Busy productive day at work, all good. Did a pasty in the Ninja for lunch, then headed out as soon as Clare came in. Not drinking still of course but thought I would treat my friend to a drive out to a pub we don't normally go to. First we went to Unit One at West Hythe, and it was good but freezing. Then on to the Dog House near Ashford. The venue is nice, and we went because there was real ale and live music. The music was a little too interactive, and being blues and country-ish not exactly to my tastes. Very proficient but I think we could have done with some soft rock singalongs. It's Alwyn's fault really I did offer that we go to see an Iron Maiden tribute instead but he didn't fancy that. To cap it all he didn't like the beer at the Dog House either. We got a kebab on the way home, and then I had a glass of fake wine when I got in. It's a new one I got from The Wine Society, it's very herbal, sort of gingery. It's billed as a non-alcoholic alternative to wine. It might catch on. Got plenty left to have another glass today!

The Lighning Seeds and Stereophonics today in 1997, part of the NME Brats gigs at the Astoria. There must have been a whole week of gigs here, but as I would have got in through the NME I have little ticket evidence.
