Thank you very much for your support at Folkestone parkrun, event 391 on 2023-07-08. You've now volunteered at this event on 16 separate occasions.

Nine more volunteerings to get my t-shirt... Hot parkrun this morning, didn't look like many people at first but filled up just before the start. Threat of thunderstorms today, but still not happened as I write this at nearly five.

It was NHS day today, the 75th anniversary of the NHS, there was a stand at parkrun. They were doing blood pressure checks, so I did one. My BP was 126/82 and heart rate 65. That's not as low as it could be, but I was not resting and I had had a coffee and an energy gel. I think that's ok.

After parkrun I dropped the boys off for the day, and walked into Folkestone. Had a lovely day bimbling around. Went down the Harbour Arm, bought some chilli sauce, then up the Old High Street and got some horseradish and kimchi which seems to have leaked in my bag. Also bought records, which luckily I'd put in another bag. Adam And The Ants Kings Of The Wild Frontier, Judas Priest British Steel, and Debut LP / magazine number one. I bought one of these a while ago, it's a nice 1980s compilation in a magazine.

Had a look at what I assume is a South African themed place in a container on the Harbour Arm called "Saffa Bru". I thought it would be all South African barbecue, and I only looked to take a picture for a friend who would like it, but they did have a few vegan things on the menu. Worth noting for later but I actually had lunch in Dr Legumes which has now moved in where Planet Earth Kitchen was. Or at least is in the process of moving there. They have no signage and no menus yet but the food was delicious, I hope to go back there soon. I think I've only eaten in one of their places once per premises though.

Home now, still hot, still no thunderstorm. Quiet as everyone is still out. Clare has gone up to see Blur and it seems quite a few of our old friends are also going, independently. You should have heard the humblebraggery about her free tickets "oh, the royal box is right back on the half way line, boo hoo"...

Day five of not drinking, note this includes the KISS concert, a Friday night, and a free Saturday afternoon. Such restraint. Going to go round to next Friday when we're out for a friend's birthday.
