Blog2023 ≫ Where did I get to on my long weekend of gigs?

I think I got up to Burton-On-Trent and the first micropub. From there to the fantastic Coopers Tavern. It's a Joules Brewery taphouse and they had a huge range of Joules real ales in an amazingly historic setting. It's still a normal working pub but with it being quiet and beautifully preserved it felt a bit like sitting in a set or a pub museum. The beer was lovely and clear, and I think we sat here for about three pints waiting for the main attraction of the evening to open. You might remember I was being picked up by taxi from the micropub to head to another pub, but with it being Sunday it was not open yet, hence them jumping out of the cab early and us all walking here. I'm very glad we did.

Chatting with the barman about the lagery beer I'd had to have the day before in London, he said they also keep that lager, because Joules lager is so unusual and not to everyone's taste. And to prove it he gave me a freebie, how nice! And it was unusual, more like an ale, very good.

Next for some food I think.
