Blog2023 ≫ London weekender: Friday night dinner in Greenwich

More quoting my own dictation:

We had a dinner booked at Pizza Express as a backup in case we didn't find anything else, but we all fancied that anyway so we looked first for a pub garden we could go and sit in, We found one called the King's Arms which was very nice. Turns out to be a Greene King. They had some interesting new Greene King beers in there, and they had some games, board games to play. So we sat in a booth in the garden and played Scrabble and Connect Four until it was time for our dinner.

We had our Pizza Express dinner and it was particularly delicious, and then to an ice cream shop next door for pudding. Then they headed back to the hotel, and I stopped in another pub on the way back. Did I stop in two pubs? One was definitely The Lost Hour which is like a real terrible party bar. I saw that they were advertising real ale, and they have big screens showing golf. So I thought I could at least just sit there, even if I didn't do the karaoke. Karaoke was quite bad but, the first beer I had was even worse. I sen it back and the second beer was a - what's that Cornish beer that you see everywhere? It was that. Anyway, I'll look this up later. At least that wasn't off, but just not my favorite beer. So I had that and then went back to the hotel and they were not quite asleep, but it still worked out. I think. I soon fell asleep ready for the next day.

Doom Bar. That's the name of the beer.

Here's a picture of The Lost Hour that I took the next day.
