Blog2023 ≫ We got e-tickets

At last Southeaster Trains are phasing out the useless "The Key" system. I used to have electronic tickets, sort of. You had to buy the ticket on the website (because the app is so bad it hardly works), then choose to add it to your key, then open up the app just to transfer the ticket, then hold your "key" smart card up to the phone, and then use this smart card to go through the barriers by touching it against the RFID reader. Why not just touch your phone against the e-reader and cut out all the faff and unnecessary plastic? Guessing they were advised very badly. Finally I can get an e-ticket, which I can then add into google wallet or whatever. I don't know if it'll work on the RFID reader yet, will find out in the morning. Maybe there are scanners now, or last resort I have to show it to a guard at the barrier.

Ten past nine and time for bed. On the 06:58 train in the morning. Fingers crossed the beetle starts, I never did get round to checking the battery again.
