Blog2022 ≫ Prague day four

Day four was going home day. Up not quite as early as I was planning to so looks like I'm not running at all. But then got ready quickly, was half hour early for meeting the others for breakfast so I thought get out and do it! Quickly put my shorts on and started running. Went the opposite way out of the hotel to the way we'd been going, ran to a park, ran round the park a few times, ran back and ran round the hotel block a few times to make it up to 5km. Run done!

Back for breakfast, to find no non-dairy milk again but had plenty of breakfast anyway. I thought this might be breakfast lunch and dinner, as we were planning to head off straight from the hotel. Not quite time to go into the office if we were to be at the airport three hours before our flight. What would the delays be like? Sure to have some...

We got the underground and then a bus back to the airport, nice and easy. The Prague underground is good, quite simple, only three lines. There were a couple of them marked as being places to change for the airport and it was easy to find the bus, then the bus took us right to the terminal. I'd go straight for bus and underground if I come back to Prague.

Airport security was a breeze, there were spare security gates and we were straight through, so no need to be there anywhere near as early. The system is a bit different here I think so we didn't get our bags scanned until we were called to the gate, There's not a lot to entertain you at this airport, so we sat by some power sockets, charged our phones and I read a book. I was travelling back with only one of my workmates this time.

Flight back was ok, bit bumpy again. I was sat nearly at the back again and it was nearly as creaky as on the way out.

Back to Heathrow and back to the confusion and delay again. The automatic security passport scanning didn't work, but no issues after that. Confusion on the train too, my ticket I had for Heathrow Underground had got me to the airport ok via the Picadilly line, but would not get me back across town on the new Elizabeth line. Eventually someone let me through, rather than making me get a different tube to the next Elizabeth line stop and then getting back on, surely they realised how nonsense the system is. The Elizabeth line is a bit of a scam, it's a bit of new underground line with some existing rail services at either end. We got it to Paddington, then changed and walked a bit to get back on the real Elizabeth line to Tottenham Court Road. We had to get out here for my friend to pick up a new Macbook charger that he'd ordered, as he had to leave his in Prague for someone else. I never thought to get one from CEX, but I think I will, a lot cheaper. I need a replacement for this old Macbook and could do with a spare for my new work one. Anyway, back onto the tube again to Stratford, and the final train home. Oh one more change at Ashford. This felt like quite a long journey home, and it was. At least all the travelling was in work's time on the way back, where I had given up my weekend on the way out.

I walked home in pretty much record time, to eat curry with my family, who I had missed.

And that is my trip to Prague done. It had been fun and interesting, in parts at least.

5k: Five km, about three miles to you.
