Clare had the afternoon off so we took a trip to Folkestone Warren on the bus, and walked up and down the beach 1. Lovely there, and actually quite busy seeing as it is so remote. We saw a few "wild campers" there again, so that's an idea for next time my friends stay. Last time we saw some vanlife types living off grid there, this time some tents hidden among the bushes.
We walked back and to the harbour, and were lucky to find a free table at the Harbour Inn. We were thinking of trying to get pizza or something somewhere as it's "eat out to help out" 50% off, and assumed we'd not get in here. It was busy, but not so busy we couldn't get a table outside. Inside was all taken but we wanted to sit out anyway, as their outside area is not in direct sun.
Slightly slow service there, because of the queueing system, but I have found them to be not the fastest in all venues run by this local chain. I don't want to criticise too much as all the venues owned by these people are awesome, but I have spotted a pattern of very young staff and slight serving hiccups. This time the biggest problem was a rotten pint of ale which I had to take back. This meant queueing round the block again to get to the bar. At least while I was back at the bar it was time to order food again. We all had similar "... and chips" meals, I thought my vegan one was a bit bland but the boys enjoyed theirs. Basically this place does not compare favourably to The White Hart, where I had the same beer and a better burger last week. I will try this place again as in theory it's awesome.
After we walked on to the Harbour Arm. Good job we did not go here first for dinner as everywhere was shut, and by the time we'd tried somewhere else we'd not have got in.
Below is a picture from the end of our walk. I'm stood on the roof of a coastguard monitoring station, looking West / South West ish in to Folkestone Harbour. See the Harbour Arm etc. Then there's a picture of a tired boy sat in an artwork towards the end of our walk. There are lots of warnings saying "er, don't actually put your mouth on this huge trumpet".
Weather warnings today, though still warm. I might let the boys stay in all day. It's their last proper lazy day of nothing to do holidays, we have plans for the next week and a bit and then they're back at school!
When they're back at school I will start applying for jobs...

A day of washing and cleaning today for me but I have an idea to move something I have written to an AWS Lambda function 2. Yes, exactly.
