Blog2019 ≫ Let's go this way I'm sure it's a footpath...

Went for a lunchtime run with Mark, who generally covers much more distance than me. He runs marathons, I do not. We went cross country again, like we did on Wednesday, but upped it to a 10k this time. My ankles are shredded to ribbons from brambles and things, my laces got pulled out by the same, and my shins are glowing from the stinging nettles. On the plus side I did complete the September 10k challenge on Strava. And all in a lunch break! See how they run1...

Still not sure what to do tonight. Inn Doors is closed, and Sean the only regular drinking buddy I am in phone contact with is not coming out. I think the usual Inn Doors crowd are all going different ways, they all have a different second-favourite. So there are a few places I could go that I don't really fancy where I'd be likely to bump into one or other of them. There are a few places that I do fancy going to, a bit further afield, but I'd be unlikely to see anyone I know there. Plus that is a lot more exercise, and I'm already over my 13k step count by lunchtime. I might go to Folkestone, try out Home, where I have not been. Or head to Hythe and revisit The Potting Shed and The Three Mariners, where I know it's nice but know no-one.

I could do without staying late, so as to be fresh for the parkrun tomorrow.

Speaking of step count though, I see I'm over my arbitrary 13k target for the past seven days in a row without a break. I nearly did it last week too, just let my eye off the ball one day.

Thing one has his second-and-final test in the morning, so they'll be leaving the same time I will. I must remember to take the beetle and our swimming stuff, so I can pick up thing two at the park and we can swim, then we can all get lunch together. Then they are meeting up with some of the NCT crowd and I'm going to Unit Number One. My plan so far has been to run there and walk back but now a) I'm knackered and b) another friend is walking there, so might just do that. An afternoon of real ale and cider and some live music will be nice.

Is sounding like a good weekend.

10k: Ten km, about six miles to you. Sometimes talking about 10,000 steps though, an arbitrary daily step count target.
