Blog2019 ≫ KISS setlist

I found a setlist on the internets for KISS at the O2, good old internets. So here are all the songs we heard. Writing this ten days later but I've shunted it back into blog history.

And then for an encore (I was sweating about missing the train from this point):

What an encore. They went off to "God Gave Rock And Roll To You II" but it played over the PA from a recording, not live.

I remember saying to Jack "this is Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who" at some point, and then it wasn't, they medleyed it into Lick It Up.

All the fireworks and explosions and breathing fire and gargling blood were quite awesome, so was Paul's zipwire thing onto the mini stage in the middle of the crowd. I found Paul's voice annoying though when he spoke between songs (and he does a lot, they are great showmen), he is more and more like Janice from Friends, and once you spot that you can't unhear it.

Jack wouldn't leave the show before the end, and I was worried about missing trains. We cruised past the comfortable direct trains home that I'd scheduled in. On leaving the show we were queueing to get into the tube station with everyone, possibly going to make the last trains of the day. I left Jack at Stratford tube with directions to get him to Waterloo, and his tube came in right away. My tube to Stratford did not, two others passed first, but then one did arrive and wasn't crowded. I ran through Stratford tube, but then got a bit confused over the way to Stratford International, lost confidence, doubled back, realised I'd been going the right way all along, and missd my train. There was one more but not until twenty past midnight, and then had to change at Ashford, and then get a taxi. Made a late night for me.

We bought t-shirts at this gig, man they were expensive. Also Jack bought a programme at TWENTY FIVE QUID. Beer seven pounds a pint in the venue, and what with that and the awkward seats (back of the venue up quite high) I didn't pop out to get another one. Probably for the best as after a few more beers I might not even have made the train home that I did.

Going backwards in time, the support was David Garibaldi, a painter, bit odd. He did big Rolf Harris style portraits of John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, and KISS, all to music. Could have done with less support act and KISS starting half hour earlier really.

Going back still, we went to The Pilot, a pub near the venue that we also went to when we went to Dinosaurs In The Wild. Lots of KISS fans around, and lots more loitering outside the venue before it opened. Lots of families and lots of facepaint, was really nice. It's a bit cos-play in places but impressive.

Before that I met Jack at Waterloo, and we went to the sports bar, a place Ro talks about all the time. We got good food there, a nice vegan "sloppy jack" burger for me. Quite pricey but convenient.

Here's a picture of Jack and me before the gig. That's not our own hair.
