Mostly by removing stuff that it didn't really need. It was doing the "star ratings" that I have on all my gig and venue pages - they're an optional extra and can happily live in their own file that gets loaded after the rest of the content.

How small can this guy get and still be useful..?

This is practically zero when it's gzipped.

UPDATE: make that 1853 by spotting the difference between .getAttribute('href') and just .href
