Never thought about who would do the olympic flame bit, but I suppose Pele was a good call. He's not doing it though, so who will? This is last minute surprise information, and this kind of thing is full of secrets and surprises, so it could be a bluff I suppose. It ought to be him kicking a flaming football to light the olympic flame, oughtn't it?
I'm watching a "clips" version of Question of Sport while waiting. We're recording the opening ceremony so the boys can watch some of it too, so there's no need to be sitting through this christmassy stuff... some funny outtakes though.
Couple of boring points that I have to keep reminding myself of; we went to Brazil in 2001 but we have no photos of the trip at all. The only souvenir I have is my green shirt with the turtles on it. Also we were at the olympics opening ceremony in 2012 of course. Sort of. We were at the big concert in Hyde Park on the day of the opening ceremony anyway, watching it on the big screen. On my actual 40th birthday wasn't it?
