Blog2016 ≫ Splendid night away in London

We offloaded the boys for a sleepover at Grandpa's house and ran off to London! We stayed in a hotel and everything, here it is:

We got the slow train up because of the parts of London we were heading too, no advantage to going via St Pancras so headed in to Waterloo instead. Found our hotel, above, the Park Plaza County Hall and it's very nice. Not in the County Hall building but overlooking it, right next to Waterloo, so handy. Room wasn't ready and we were early for lunch so walked round Covent Garden in the cold windy rain1. Shopped a bit, Clare failed to find new shoes though. Lunch in Franco Manca fantastic, it does live up to the hype, definitely going here again. So nice to see friends and nice for someone to have some good news, not been much of that around right now.

I left them to do more chores and shopping while I went to the pub to meet an old chum Loz in The Harp. Sunk a few there then met up with Clare and friends again for another half then on to Richard Herring. Had curry for dinner after and was too tired to go for another drink, can you imagine!

I'll be back to add more details in separate replies, so I can link them all up to the correct venues...

5k: Five km, just over three miles to you.
