A different branch of Clarks this time, I'm trying to research some on Clare's side. They go back to Joshua CLARK (1795 - ) of Wakefield. Not found anything further yet but this page1 has a Joshua Clark and a Joseph Clark possibly both in connection with the Heald family in Wakefield. This Joshua Clark has a grandson Joshua Joseph Clarke who was the one who moved to Ireland.
Would be a generation or two before, but it looks to me like the Clarkes and Clarks didn't move very far - if your grandfather lived in that town chances are you would to.
Anyway, just a little lunchtime research. A work very much in progress. Would be lovely to have some info on these Clarks to take to Ireland with me when we go later this year or next year and show to a descendent Mary Clark who is Clare's great aunt.
