The Earl Grey: closed

FG ≫ 2009 ≫ The Earl Grey: closed

Another one bites the dust, I seem to be saying that a lot these days.

Seems to be a constant stream of closures at the moment, this town feels like it's dying on its arse at times. I had not been in the Earl Grey for a long time, it wasn't a very appealing pub, but it feels like we ought to be able to support more pubs than we have. I guess the strongest will survive.

This is part of my site The 'Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first moved here in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years before that but I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events + voting for favourite venues + things, + I hear it was a useful reference for others who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is becoming the exciting place we always thought it was about to become. I am not Gerald BTW, this comes from a fake paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do contact me if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
