Blog2004 ≫ Wedding Invitation

Shame to have just missed this1, not sure the seller realised there was any Titanic connection, but it was an invitation to the wedding of Charles Valentine Clarke and Ada Maria Winfield... went for 51 in the end to a member of encyclopedia-titanica.org2.

A fascinating item! A stiff white card, 4 x 3, with printed wording (in silver) that is remarkably similar to the wording used nearly 100 years later. Mr and Mrs Winfield (of Colaba, Grange Lane, Netley Abbey) invite Miss S Holliday (whose name is written in neat silver ink) to the marriage of their daughter Ada to Mr C V Clarke at St Edwards Church, Netley, on Monday 29th June 1908. The card has a couple of faint finger prints, and faint foxing marks. Overall condition is nevertheless extremely good for this fascinating item of social history
