Blog2026 ≫ Last day of holiday

Has certainly felt like a significant holiday this year, a significan break from work anyway. Was nice having a few days off before the holiday then a few days off with this bank holiday after. When we were in Porto we felt like we could have done with a few more days, we felt a little short changed by the weather there. And even in the heat of Lisbon we didn't quite fit in all the things we had planned, partly because of the sickness. But still has definitely felt like a break.

Today not much planned, I would like to go to the pub but so would wife, and she asked first. So I think I'll go to the Clarendon just for one to see some friends and then be around to pick her up later. We're back to normal Monday night penne arrabiata tea, the Ninja 1 is on already starting on that.

Before that I need to take T2 to Tesco to get some back to school stationery supplied, and then he wants to go to town on his own later to top up on things he can't get.

Still not pay day for two weeks, so had to shift some money around to cover this post-holiday pre-pay-day period. Premium bonds prizes this week though, but even if there is a winner there it won't arrive until next week. Good news though there is Lloyds share dividend announced next week and I can work that out, will be hundreds of pounds. Then pay day actually Friday week, so less than two weeks. Then possibly share save pay out four weeks after that...

Off to London this week unless I can get out of it, then definitely going the week after as we have a gig on the Tuesday night so I think I'm going to dig out my old hostel packing list!

Update packing list (based on my big packing list) for next time in the hostel. Latest packing list version will always be here, but I will paste updates over time.

Oh I was at Guns n Roses thirty-flipping-five years ago today, with Skid Row and Nine Inch Nails. They were also playing, I did not go with them.

Sunny intervals and a fresh breeze, 12 - 23℃.

  1. My 11-in-1 multi cooker I bought in February 2023 https://amzn.to/4gESKWv I have mentioned it 118 times.
  2. Back to the same old one, The Generator, Kings Cross. Booked now, ot a bed in a large dorm for £23. Not best price ever..
  3. No longer on calendar reminders as I don't do this regularly. I wish my holiday planner travel reminder worked again, that would be a good job for this year.
  4. Towels provided in work showers, where I will get ready for work the next morning. Got my small one as a backup, but it's already at work.
  5. Still going with this I think rather than the tactical sling as I can put it in my work bag.
  6. Probably going to remove, not getting used on these trips, but maybe this time so I can keep my new jacket very close, still slightly paranoid about it.
  7. I have a set at work but like to have one in my tote bag too.
  8. Already at work.
  9. Generally not eating.
  10. Removed the charging leads, as battery pack has it built in. Yes battery pack appears on the list twice, first task is putting it on to charge, second task is pack it.
