One of the speakers on this macbook has started buzzing. I use this for everything (apart from work) and we use it for watching TV while we're having dinner. So we need another solution for that. I'm not ready to get another laptop but I do need to get some external speakers for it. Maybe getting that Sonos Roam that I was thinking about, that would fix this, and fix my other requirement for something that means I can stream from my phone to the rest of the house. I have Sonos speakers already and they're good 1 but you can only connect to them in a certain way, and that does not include bluetooth, and it mostly doesn't include a direct line in. The Sonos Port that I have connected to the record player has a line in, but I use that for the record player 2. The sound bar has an input but that's connected to the TV. So it feels like a Sonos Roam is the best solution for playing music off my phone through the other speakers around the house.
Another one that's been in my backlog for ages is an updated raspberry pi 3 type solution, I can stream my collection directly off there over the network to the sonos.
Still, the main thing is, I wanted this thing to as I thought it would solve one problem, and now it turns out it saves two problems, one of which was going to cost me money. So this thing is at least half price, possible free when you think about it. I might get two!
