Tried to get out of it, but Wednesday night into Thursday morning there was a test going on at work and they wanted a representative from all teams to be there. I said I don't think we need to be there, but I will if someone has to. I was really banking on us not needing to be there. In the end I had to go through with it, put my money where my mouth is. So, after a full day of work on Wednesday, including getting up at 6:30 with the boys, I watched TV with the family, then did not go to bed. I tried to snooze in my chair until 1:00 when the call was. Did I sleep? Did I just hallucinate that I was sleeping as I was so tired? at 1:00 I joined the call, and was fairly alert for that. I was not needed, but I had to stay for the duration. at 05:30 I said I'm going to leave, as I have to get up soon. My alarm goes at 05:45 on a Thursday anyway, so I made a cup of tea, got showered, and then headed into London.
Had an OK day at work seeing as I'd had no sleep. Stumbled through the day, fairly productive. Had my usual falafel wrap in Leather Lane, and worked the full day. I could have left early but there was a call around 16:00 I wanted to be in. And my train ticket was fixed for 17:34 so I don't think I could have left early anyway. Left a bit early, and initially my ticket did not go through the barrier but a bored station official just let me through anyway. So home on the 17:07, walked home, and tea was ready to go. Did not fall asleep in my dinner but watched a bit of TV and to bed by about 22:00. What is that, up for nearly forty hours?
Half term has started, the boys are off school, so I didn't need to get up until 08:30 this morning, lovely.
I'm still on call, I could be called at any point. But it's all extra cash, so all good. I do even get an extra payment for sitting up through the night, I can claim overtime for that. This new bathroom will be paid for in no time.
I walked down to The Fountain after work today to play pool with T1 as he has been gagging to all week. The beer was not actually poisonous today! But I could only have one anyway, as still on call, still working.
Be good when this week is over, back to normal.
Partly cloudy and a gentle breeze, 9 - 15℃.
