Blog2025 ≫ Home automation fun

This is now on the @todo pile, it's a remote light switch that goes inline behind a normal light switch. So then the light switch functions as normal, and as far as anyone knows this is a perfectly normal house. But behind the scenes the lights are automated, remotely controlled, and it's a smart house. Haven't tried it yet, if it's good these will go everywhere I don't already have a zigbee light switch.

Lego man for scale, this thing is tiny. It needs to be if it's to go behind the light switch. But the normla light switches are not as deep as the other smart light switches I have been fitting, so should all be fine.

I could even get nice looking light switches now that match the decor of the room instead of being restricted to white plastic.

  1. Hmm using the word "inline" in the description meant some code somewhere tried to inline this image...
