He's doing an extra one, actually a BTEC in sports science. It was an optional one that goes alongside his GCSEs. This is the one he seems to have put a disproportionate amount of effort into, but he's keen to do well. He did the exam yesterday, having only done 40% of the course, and he's allowed to stop after this. I think he's going to see what grade he gets and if he's not happy he's allowed to complete the course, take the exam again and take the new grade. Which hopefully goes up.
Not many people are doing this qualification apparently, though they all do the same studies as it is part of PE.
