Blog2024 ≫ Parkrun 153

Missed parkrun last week and hadn't been out all week, busy with work, not even really time for walking at lunch. SHOCKING step count. Also Friday night straight out after work at about 4pm, having done so much extra in the week. Straight to the Potting Shed, and then to the Vinodhon for quite a good curry, and then home again by 8pm while it was still light. Still possibly not the best pre-parkrun preparation, but not unusual. I did mostly run to the pub, as catching up with my friend who had caught the bus, but we didn't even walk back we got, a taxi.

Thought I was going to take the run super easy, but then strangely bumped into an old friend from London right before the run. Got to comprehensively beat him. I had a slow start but was probably not far off my usual pace.

Folkestone parkrun results for event #433. Your time was 00:25:12.

Congratulations on completing your 153rd parkrun and your 139th at Folkestone parkrun today. You finished in 88th place out of a field of 383 parkrunners. You were the 79th male and came 10th in your age category VM50-54. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Folkestone parkrun remains 00:20:50. Your best time this year remains 00:23:32.

After we swapped numbers again, I'd changed numbers since seeing him last and he'd tried to text to say he was in town. He was down for football, Folkestone Invicta were playing one of his teams Dulwich Hamlet. He'd found a great pub the night before he said, now of course I'm going to know it so which one? The East Cliff Tavern, where I sometimes go on a Friday night. Would have been even odder to have bumped into him there. We're going to catch up again next time we go up to Greenwich.

While I was running I had texts from people who had queued up for Record Store Day and got some cool vinyl, but I did not have the time, or the spare money this week. Next week should be a different matter.

Did some work in the garden later, jetwashed the trampoline and cleared the patio a bit. Mostly cleared the stuff growing under the trampoline so you'd hardly know. T1 and Clare were both quite enthused by the jetwasher so I might get them out again! But I'm also looking into some chemical cleaner for the patio. If I can find one that's not safe for plants etc then maybe it'll do some of the weeding for me. I don't really want to save anything in the garden, just keep it clear.

Possibly not much time for anything today though. Shopping delivery soon then depending on Clre's calls back from 111 we might be going to an out of town emergency dentist or to A&E. Not confident either are going to happen or to be able to help.
