Blog2024 ≫ A productive day all round

Productive couple of days. When did I last update here? Bank holiday monday, my work on-call rota was finally over. Not going to the pub though, instead we went to Folkestone. First to the cinema, to see Ghostbusters Frozen World, it was quite good but not as good as another ghostbusters with nearly all the original crew ought to be. Then to Luben, which was also quite good, but I'm sure they're skimping on the ingredients a bit. Portions feel less generous than they had done, especially T2's beef ragu. Anyway nice, a treat to be out, after a mostly staying in week.

Monday I was up early and working early, hoping to get a headstart on everyone else at work who would have work queued up ready to deploy. Turns out other people weren't quite so excited about this deploying of work following a week's hard code freeeze, in fact some still had the day off. So, I got everything I needed to do done with no interruptions. Made some good progress on the new project too. I'm just making a prototype but I think it's about good enough to go live as it is.

Clare was working her first of two lates this week, so we had tea and watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Well most of it, got to finish that off tonight.

This morning up early for work again, even earlier! I was testing something at 7am. That seems to have gone OK, so I took the time back at lunch and went for a walk with the boys. A very squelchy muddy walk along the canal, a bad idea. Hope everyone's shoes are dry for tomorrow.

I also did some DIY electrics at the end of the day. I fitted both of these light switches, a single one for the en-suite, and the three button remote for the front door. It looks like a regular three button light switch but each of the buttons is programmable three ways. So I have a light switch by the front door that can turn the hall lights on and off, what a treat! But also with a special Konami code button combo I can do other stuff, including turning all the lights off as I head out the door.

To top it all I chucked some bargain veg and some madras paste in the Ninja slow cooker and made a super curry overnight which we just had for tea.

Now to finish the film.
