That was Storm Ciaran then. It was very noisy throughout the night but our house survived it. I did bring the balcony furniture in and I think that was a good call. The trampoline had a nice little walk across the back garden, but was unfortunately not blown away entirely.
The walk to school this morning was ok, and T1 headed off on the bus as normal. The walk back from school via the beech was very hard indeed though, still very strong winds in parts at this time. I saw the fency above completely destroyed and a few other fences down.
Later in the day Clare saw trees down, and T1's bus home was cancelled. Luckily with his weekly pass he can jump on any bus, but the kids who have the annual pass had to make other arrangements. T2's PE and swimming both cancelled and they let the kids out of school early, to parents who could come and collect them at that short notice.
I expect that fence above is going to cost us all money, though it looks just decorative and surely can't be much.
There was two hours of free energy this afternoon and I made good use of it drying out my clothes. My big North Face coat got drenched right through just on the walk home from school. It's really not properly waterproof any more. I don't know if I can reproof it or if I should get another one. I must have had it over ten years, and it's still good and warm and looks good (well I think so). Starting to build up quite a list of things I could buy when I get paid again. This month's pay just went really fast.
