Went in to Fareham with nephew and sister to collect some vinyl he had ordered. It turns out to be a great record shop called Heathen Chemistry. He got his vinyl, I got a copy of Misplaced Childhood by Marillion and we got talked into a Pavement shaped picture disc that was discounted. I don't mind, nice just to support a place like that.
We went in the big Tesco just to get the free parking and I got some sweets and drinks for the boys in a really good sweet shop, and then it was getting to the time to meet my friends so I just stayed in town.
First to the West Street Ale House, Ro was there before me, Andy would soon follow and Dave an hour or two after that. Some great times, only some ok beer, and a new game discovered. Looks like a traditional pub game but I've never seen it before, you swing little hoops towards a hook. It's strangely compelling and satisfying. They had one on each table, it must be quite easy to make.
We got burgers from Umami and then ordered an Uber to The Cob And Pen. The boys were mocking my 4.4 rating on Uber, I never ever use it. Then when the car failed to show, it seemed to be stuck in Portchester somewhere, we cancelled it. What that has done to my rating I don't know. We said we'd walk, only twenty minutes or so, but we passed a cab rank so jumped in.
The Cob And Pen was very quiet, one other group playing darts so we took the pool table. We were dreadful at this, can't think why. Still more great chat, great times, good friends. I walked home about eighty percent sure I would not be doing parkrun in the morning, yet again.
