Blog2023 ≫ Slower parkrun, lost an earbud

Lovely night in the Potting Shed last night. I worked quite hard right up to the end of the day, where is my medal? Then when Clare came in exhausted at six I said er, could you give me a lift to the pub please? I thought it was going to shut at seven and I'd soon be back again. When I got there I thought I wouldn't stay long, I felt a bit closed out of the conversations. I wasn't meeting anyone and these things can happen but generally it's a friendly place. Then some more people came in and I ended up staying until nine. Everyone was in bed by the time I got home.

Up early to take Clare to work and then to parkrun with both boys. They wanted to go to McDonalds before parkrun! I relented, I'm not a fascist. T1 had a free hash brown to claim, and got himself a bacon and egg muffin and enjoyed it. T2 says they gave him the wrong thing and he threw it straight in the bin. At least there is some quality control going on there, though I won't be in a hurry to take them back again.

Parkrun was good, but I was slow. It was warmer than expected, so I took my hoodie off part way round, and pulled out my earbuds. Caught one, but one disappeared. I could say about a minute of today's run time was spent looking for it, if I was being generous to myself. Did the scanning after the run, while T1 was today's "funnel manager". He's not sure what he was meant to be doing, I think it's making sure people cross the finish line one at a time. Mostly they know that so there wasn't anything for him to do. After our volunteerings were over I went back to find my earbud, and luckily did.

Folkestone parkrun results for event #382. Your time was 00:25:18.

Congratulations on completing your 120th parkrun and your 108th at Folkestone parkrun today. You finished in 103rd place and were the 91st Male out of a field of 364 parkrunners and you came 14th in your age category VM50-54. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Folkestone parkrun remains 00:20:50. Your best time this year remains 00:23:24.

Thank you very much for your support at Folkestone parkrun, event 382 on 2023-04-29. You've now volunteered at this event on 12 separate occasions.

From there into town, to Waterstones where I got another William Shaw book1, I think this is the last one so far. T1 got a book too, T2 was messing about so did not. He still hasn't finished the last one I bought him so it's OK. Then to the record shop, but it was strangely shut, and to Payers Park for the boys to have a run around. They were doing timed circuits, fun and good exercise. Then to the whole foods shop where I bought expensive bread and some jars of treats. Some locally made kimchi, some vegan horseradish and some peanut butter. Then to Tesco for lasagne for tea and wine. More wine. There's a box of wine arriving today too. Pay day!

It wasn't just the record shop that was shut today, the bubble tea place also. Town did feel a bit quiet generally. Could just be that we were there early, but maybe there was an event going on somewhere.

Think I'm going out tonight, not sure. I will if it matches the timings for my friends, though they are out early watching football.

Might leave my little bits of DIY until tomorrow, as it's so nice today we should go out for a walk.
