Blog2023 ≫ Got drenched at Parkrun

Doesn't look like a great parkrun time but it didn't feel like a bad one. We got there early because we were volunteering, T1 was given the timekeeper role this time. This meant stopping the virtual stopwatch as each person crossed the line. He's not sure how accurate it is because the rain clicked the button for him a few times. I ran, and then did barcode scanning after. The rain really came down at this point and I got soaked, we had to move and try and get undercover a bit. I'm still cold now, though I'm home and showered and dressed.

Folkestone parkrun results for event #380. Your time was 00:24:31.

Congratulations on completing your 118th parkrun and your 106th at Folkestone parkrun today. You finished in 69th place and were the 55th Male out of a field of 309 parkrunners and you came 5th in your age category VM50-54. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Folkestone parkrun remains 00:20:50. Your best time this year remains 00:23:24.

Thank you very much for your support at Folkestone parkrun, event 380 on 2023-04-15. You've now volunteered at this event on 11 separate occasions.

Had a few drinks in Hythe last night. First to the Potting Shed where I met my friends, saw some other people I know, some unexpectedly, which was nice. We had Gadds hoppy something or other, a light ale. Then a walk to the Three Mariners where we had more of the same, this time Hophead though from Dark Star. Very nice, then got a taxi home by 9pm.

We're going to have an early soup lunch, then head to Ashford. Clare is shopping and the boys and I are swimming. Not really swimming much, but waterslides and the lazy river. Then from there to Folkestone. Hoping to get T1 a new hoodie and more jeans as he's suddenly grown this week. I hope his uniform fits, back to school on Monday. Anyway after the briefest of clothes shops, probably to Luben. I was keen to eat somewhere else, maybe The Pullman, but the family votes Luben. I will not have the salad this time.

Been out of coffee for a couple of days! It was a mistake dropping my bean subscription to every five weeks, I have upped it again. I must be back in profit now I've cancelled my 2000AD. Judge Dredd megazine arrived today and I'm about five issues behind with that, but I'll keep it going. It has more of a nod to the older reader than the weekly one, it has interviews and articles about the old days.

Estimated 958 cups of coffee from my espresso machine1 probably comes to £1.39 per cup (including actual coffee and now servicing1 but not the electricity).
