Blog2023 ≫ Runaround

Nearly forgot today, I was supposed to be going round and feeding the cat and giving it its medicine today, so basically had to work round Jim's house for a couple of hours this morning. I should have headed round there before work, medicined the cat, done a couple of meetings, fed the cat, come back. I was running super late now though so tried to get there before my first meeting. Then the beetle wouldn't start. Probably the battery, could have been something to do with the terrible wether. It was fine last night when I took T1 to football. So, back in the house, call a cab, have first meeting, duck out of that to taxi. Clare had called me back to say instead of getting a cab to Jim's, get a cab to her, pick up the other car, so I did that. Then drove to Jim's, had second meeting. Tried to give the cat medicine, it was not having it. I had to feed him and leave, and get back to work. Jim's back today, he can take over the feline drugging again.

Work busy, again, but good. I found a problem with an external system and got it fixed. Got a load of my work released and did some more troubleshooting. Another busy day tomorrow but actually in London. So early train up, then half a day in an online disaster recovery thing, so basically no-one would know if I was in the office or not. Hopefully get a good lunch though.

T2 is in the local paper today for that big maths competition he was in a few weeks back. He's very proud. We're very proud. They have his picture, but they did not put the kids names.

I'm trying and failing to find another local news piece I read yesterday. It was saying "look, if the tories don't get in at the next election then Princes Parade is not being redeveloped. I don't know if the piece was attempting balance, or was biased in one way, because I read it at first as "you really want this redevelopment so you'd better vote tory". But no-one wants this development except the tory councillors and the property developers who were involved. At first some people were tricked into supporting it with the idea there would be a new leisure centre, but obviously that was not happening, and it was the first thing to be dropped as I believe a wise man once wrote. So maybe saying "if the tories don't get in there's no redevelopment" was a very clear message of "vote green people"? It's interesting anyway. The Greens have control of the council here I think, but the local Lib Dem came very close to ousting the tory leader of the council last time1. Hopefully there will be a bit of organisation and they'll be out this time.

Someone went and named a storm again didn't they? It only encourages them! It's super windy out there, and wet. There are wheely bins everywhere and it's too unpleasant to go for a walk.

Today in 1994 I was at The Wonderstuff, at Portsmouth Guildhall.
