Blog2023 ≫ Seventeen more volunteerings for a t-shirt

I offered to volunteer at parkrun today, that got me moving a bit faster. If I could finish quickly enough I could do barcode scanning after I run, so double credits! I get a run in number 114) and I volunteer too (eighth time).

Folkestone parkrun results for event #374. Your time was 00:23:40.

Congratulations on completing your 114th parkrun and your 102nd at Folkestone parkrun today. You finished in 66th place and were the 58th Male out of a field of 328 parkrunners and you came 7th in your age category VM50-54. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Folkestone parkrun remains 00:20:50. Your best time this year remains 00:23:24.

That's not far off my best time of the year.

I also asked about T1 volunteering there for his DofE and they said yep, they're well up for it. I don't even have to stick with him. I'll always be there and sometimes I'll volunteer at the same time but they're keen for young volunteers and they have a bit of a programme of training and so on. We think he's going to do a computer programming course for the new skill too, which will be good as he is not going to do a GCSE in that. Sorted!

I have a peaceful day now, I have dropped them off at Grandpa's house, and cleaned the car. OK I went through the carwash. Clare is walking back from Hythe. I have a plan to put a shelf up today, to make some room for my books, to get them out of T1's room. It seems no matter how long I leave a big stack of Terry Pratchetts there he is not going to read them. So I will move them to the downstairs loo. I need to get rid of some of my graphic novels from there that I'm not going to read again and they're not reading either. Most I will keep but I have quite a lot of Swamp Thing for some reason.

I have to go out to a hardware shop to get some wood for the shelf. I made the brackets ages ago but just need another length of "hobby board". I'm not going to get it done all the time I'm sat here though. And I've not had my shower yet, and I want to do some air frying this afternoon too.

My Garmin watch seems to be messing about, it is not syncing my exercise automatically. If this morning's parkrun doesn't count for Strava I will feel I wasted my time a bit.
