Blog2023 ≫ Ninja foodi cook number one

I'm using the Ninja Foodi for the first time today, for tomorrow's dinner. If it goes wrong, no food, which will not be good. I'm starting with the arrabiata that I always make on a Sunday, and basing the cooking times on a recipe I have here for ratatouille. So that's turn it to searing mode and let it heat up for a couple of minutes. Onion in for two minutes and it looks to have browned nicely, then the garlic for two minutes and that's done the same. Then all the rest in, passata, tomato puree, grated carrot, chilli, basil, oregano, salt, pepper, PLUS 200ml of water. Turn it to the pressure cooker setting and set for five minutes. I don't usually add water to this recipe when done on the hob but I think it's important in the ninja. Guessing on the quantity though. It takes ten mins or so to get up to pressure, now the timer is counting up to five minutes. Will see what comes out!

Well, that was quicker to cook than it was to write up. It's done now. The water seemed about right. The pressure cooking did not stop at five minutes though. I think it beeped then, and maybe it did stop cooking? But the timer kept going up so I'm not sure. I spotted it, released the pressure and turned it off. It's a nice non-stick cooking pot and will hopefully be easy to clean.

Next stop baked potatoes. I think I can put them in to pressure cook for twenty minutes and then air fry for ten and they should be about right...
