Blog2023 ≫ Febrewery 24/18

Wow I'm behind here. Just writing up stuff from a week ago. Last Saturday morning I did the Fareham parkrun. Got a lift there as I was running late, always feels a bit of a cheat. I should have got a better starting position, Fareham parkrun is hard as it's very narrow. Not a challenging run, no hills or anything, just frustrating shuffling along behind people for quite a bit of it. It seems arrogant to push further forwards. Next time I must get there earlier.

Fareham parkrun results for event #296. Your time was 00:25:00. Congratulations on completing your 112th parkrun and your 6th at Fareham parkrun today. You finished in 56th place and were the 45th Male out of a field of 233 parkrunners and you came 8th in your age category VM50-54. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Fareham parkrun remains 00:21:31. Congratulations on your fastest time this year.

"Fastest time this year", only time this year at that parkrun. Still, see 112 parkruns done, only another 138 to go to get the next t-shirt. I have not claimed my 100 t-shirt yet, I don't think I will until I run out of t-shirts. Will that be before I qualify for the 250? Kez and Rob's birthday's on the Saturday too, yes they are lucky enough to share like Clare and I. Bit of a quiet day apart from that. I did not succeed in my plan to travel down to Gosport on my own and check out a pub along the way so I've no idea what the Five Alls is like still.

Family party in the evening though, at the Fighting Cocks, so that makes Febrewery #24, twenty-four pubs in eighteen days:

  1. The Butt Of Sherry, Hythe.
  2. The Bell, Hythe.
  3. The Clarendon, Sandgate.
  4. The Famous Ship Inn, Sandgate.
  5. The Lady Luck, Canterbury.
  6. The Pegasus, Canterbury.
  7. The Unicorn, Canterbury.
  8. The Thomas Tallis, Canterbury.
  9. Botolph's Bridge Inn, West Hythe.
  10. #Unit1, West Hythe.
  11. Bounce, Farringdon.
  12. The Blue Lion, Kings Cross.
  13. The East Kent Tavern, Folkestone.
  14. The Lifeboat, Folkestone.
  15. The Beer Shop, Folkestone.
  16. The Space Bar, Folkestone.
  17. Harvey's, Folkestone.
  18. Three Hills Sports Bar, Folkestone.
  19. The Pullman, Folkestone.
  20. The Portcullis Taphouse, Portchester.
  21. The Red Lion, Portchester.
  22. The Cob And Pen, Fareham.
  23. The West Street Alehouse, Fareham.
  24. The Fighting Cocks, Gosport.

The family meal was good, surprising to discover I'd not seen the cousins for almost exactly ten years. Their kids have grown unrecognisably. Mine were a little bit lost there, and unfortunately Mum was ill, and Kez still ill, but I had a good time.
