Blog2023 ≫ Good day at work

A day in London, but a good day! Early start, made a coffee, and the beetle got me to Three Hills. On the way there I think I spotted a better place to park, a few streets our side of the station. Could save me a few minutes each time I go in if that street really is free to park on. Train in was busy, we were standing to Ashford. When we got to London it still felt dark. I hadn't noticed it being this wintry1 on other visits over the winter, not sure what was different about today.

Not loads of work gets done on office days, but we had a few video calls. Everyone in the same room, everyone's microphone feeding back, hard to hear or be heard. But then midday, normal lunch time, and I went out for a run. Runuary day eleven, I ran from work down to Southwark and back again. Mostly a pretty good run, interesting to run past places I remember, like the Zeppeling Building where I used to work for Channelfly, it seems to be empty now. Past the Wetherspoons where my friends ambushed me to take me on my stag do. Down past Fleet Street, over Blackfriars Bridge, past Nicholson Street where I used to live. Turn around and back to work and that's 5km. Some parts of the run were good, there are a lot of cycle paths, but it was very busy out and about and I had to stop for pedestrians a lot.

Then back to work and stop for actual lunch! We had a team lunch today, all paid for, at Kin. It is Asian fusion, kind of like Wagamama but lots of Thai dishes. I had Pad Kee Mao and it was great.

My Thai lunch from today

After we got back lunch it ws nearly time to go home. I left in time to get the 17:07.

As a bonus when I got home my new shirt was here. Clare still hates it and says she will not accompany me out of the house in it.

I will wear it on this train journey2.

5k: Five kilometres, just over three miles to you.

runuary: Running at least 5k every day for the month of January.
