Blog2022 ≫ London today (but nearly not)

Got up early to go to London today. It was very cold, the beetle was a solid block of ice. It would not start. I spoke to Clare about taking the other car to the station, she wasn't happy, so I thought I'd just work at home. Then could not get a refund on my train tickets and realised I'd not be going into London the next few weeks so thought I should make the effort. She got up and drove me to the station to get a later train. Fairly busy day there. Quite cold. I had decided to take lunch in today to save money, but then when I was going to wfh again I put it back in the fridge... so back down Leather Lane for falafel wrap. I had the pasty I'd bought for lunch later for my tea.

I have been reading some old, old, very old blog posts. Trying to add some context where I can remember it, and revisiting the idea that "no-one is reading it, but it helps me to remember things that I did". Found this from 2007 where I'd actually made a note "what will I think when I read this back in five years?", and while I did not read it back in five years I'm reading it now. What of that work christmas party I wondered? I said "I've not even talked about our work xmas party yet, I think the moment has probably passed now", I wonder if I had anything to say about it? I wish I had overshared monotonous details so I could travel back in time and relive these moments... Then I found that that is exactly what I later did! Still boring, but in detail.

Should I share more tedious detail of today so I can recall when I'm looking back in 2037? I didn't just have a falafel wrap today, I had chips with it too, and I got it from a shop in Leather Lane, not one of the stalls. It's the shop I keep going back to as it's the cheapest place along there, but nice. I went in with two cow-orkers today. There were only the three of us from our team out lunching that day, there had only been four of us in at all. One of them was someone I've worked with for two years but never met in person before as he NEVER comes into the office. He lives in Chelmsford and it takes him two hours and £100 to get in, which is more than me.

Clare collected me from the station again, and then we ate the aforementioned tea, and then sat down to watch Home Alone1. Well, they watched it and I mostly did this. The house is all decorated for christmas now, they did it yesterday while I mostly did this again...

I advertised the beer fridge on freecycle, and it was very popular, lots of responses right away. Someone is collecting it tomorrow.

The Darkness nine years ago today in 2003. In Folkestone no less! At the Leas Cliff Hall. You play the Leas Cliff Hall twice in your career, indeed. Turbonegro nineteen years ago today, but in London.
