Blog2022 ≫ I have been robbed

Today didn't start so well. I stayed up too late, and overslept this morning. Raced to the station but there was no free parking space, and by the time I'd driven round to the pay-for-parking side the train was in, and then I missed it. I drove home again, had a bit of breakfast, and came back a bit later for the 8am train instead.

Work itself was alright, bit busy. I had taken my own lunch in, determined to try and keep the costs down, but couldn't resist a Leather Lane lunch. I went to The Tempeh Man today for a mixed box, very nice indeed.

The end of the day was as annoying as the beginning, we found an issue on the website right at going home time, so I was late leaving. Not too late, but late enough for me to decided to get my tea on the way home. Clare and the boys already had lasagne and I was meant to be bringing mine in, but I decided to eat it on the train.

Got home to check on my bank account, pay day tomorrow and I wanted to be sure my standing orders were in order. What's this pending payment of £160 for AMF Bowling? Could it be delayed payment from thing one's birthday? No not that, looks like a dodgy one! I got through to the bank on the phone after about half an hour of being on hold. If that one is dodgy, then when do you think about these? Some other rogue payments for a Wetherspoons, a fashion retailer, a restaurant, and a couple of other things that had all been blocked by the bank since Monday. Only this one had snuck through, and they've cancelled it for me. Means I have to manage without that bank card for a few days, but I have other means.

I can't help connecting this to Prague, as I visited a bar we'd been to on a stag do about twenty years before. This bar stands out in everyone's mind as one friend bought a round of drinks only to have his card declined. It turned out later it had been cloned at some point. Now it can't be anything more than coincidence, as no-one has attempted to use my card overseas, and his card was actually cloned before we even got to Prague, but still it is linked in my mind.

All good now anyway.

On the subject of crime though, Folkestone police station caught fire yesterday! The evidence store possibly, everyone was safely evacuated.

Wow Sultans Of Ping twenty-eight years ago today.
