Blog2022 ≫ Weather still good for Parkrun

Up early, took Clare to work, kept the car so I could easily get to and from Parkrun with the boys. Left them in the cafe and had quite a good run.

Folkestone parkrun results for event #339. Your time was 00:22:16.

Congratulations on completing your 90th parkrun and your 81st at Folkestone parkrun today. You finished in 31st place and were the 27th Male out of a field of 305 parkrunners and you came 3rd in your age category VM45-49. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Folkestone parkrun remains 00:20:50. Your best time this year remains 00:21:36.

Ro also ran Parkrun today, though in Whiteley. Nice to see him back on it, after we ran it together a few times back in 2019.

After Parkrun we went to Folkestone Leisure Centre to try and swim. I always had the idea in the back of my mind that it would not work out, it often doesn't, they're always short staffed. Anyway we got there and it was just closing apparently, would be open again at midday. We went to the park and walked into town to see if I could get some flip-flops for my travels, but none to be had. Had a bit of a row with thing one who wants to sell the XBox and get a PS5. Yes, only two weeks after we got him the expensive custom controller for the XBox. I seem to keep buying him the wrong things, I will just stop soon. I hope I have explained to him he's listening too much to one friend who has the other console, and it's not better than what we have. But we'll see, he might be just humouring me and simmering resentment. Anyway, after this we walked back to the sports centre to find no it wasn't actually closed, it was just lane swimming, and it was still lane swimming. Bit of a mix up, other customers were demanding refunds because of the foul ups. We just went in and did lane swimming and made the best of it. Only sixteen for me, twelve for thing one, and ten for thing two. Good going for them! Then off to Subway for lunch for them, then Tesco for some bits for tea, and home. They're gaming and I'm watching more Glastonbury before tidying up, some laundry, and then prepping tea.

Only ten more parkruns to go to get my next t-shirt! It's going to be way after the holiday now. I hope I can still do one while in Rome though, and maybe run in another country too.

My new running shoes arrived, and because I went for all black I'm going to take them as my only shoes on my trip to Prague, which is now booked. Crikey that was a faff, a real effort to book it. We're having to go from Heathrow, and I have to leave home at midday on the Sunday, instead of early Monday morning. Traveling by plane is such a pain. I think I could have made it to Prague by train in the same time, especially if we consider the time taken to actually book it through the dreadful system I had to use. I don't think work would support train travel all the way there anyway. My travel and hotel comes to about a thousand pounds. Glad I did not have to pay that up front. There will still be expenses to get there, including train to Heathrow Airport, and then however we get across Czechia late on a Sunday afternoon.

Was at another Glastonbury warm-up this day in 2003, following on from REM yesterday. It was Kelly Osborne and Har Mar Superstar? Who? Big in Camden at the time1. Been watching some of the Glastonbury on TV, but not enough. Quite enjoyed Robert Plant, he did all the Led Zeppelin that he failed to do when we saw him at the Leas Cliff Hall. Liked Sam Fender, and Blossoms, but not so much Billy Eilish.
