Blog2022 ≫ Only twenty-seven days until pay day

Pay day came and went and I have not bought anything, no new furniture, not even done an order of wine. Think we have everything we need. Another busy week at work but should be calming down now. Had a few last minute things relating to our big project going live but generally things have gone really well. We had an end of year (end of Tesco year) celebration yesterday resulting in some games1 and an early finish, very nice. Early finish on a Friday? Surely I went straight to the Inn Doors. No not this time. The Inn Doors did reopen on Thursday, and very welcome it was too. I was there at 5pm for the reopening, I feel I should have had a badge or something for this. Arranged to meet my usual Friday friends there on the Thursday, as neither would have been available for the Friday anyway. Then yesterday we went out for dinner. Have been sort of planning a trip to Bella Vista in Folkestone all week and finally did it. It was OK but not as much vegan choice as they had led us to believe over the phone. I had tomato and basil spaghetti, and it was very nice, but I'm used to more vegan choice these days. I could have had a pizza but they wanted an extra £2.50 for this option which I don't think is on. It was pay day, so £2.50 is no problem, but there's a principle involved.

After Bella Vista Clare dropped me at the Inn Doors again and I had a very nice evening. Stuck to the 1381 session ale so am feeling relatively fresh for parkrun today. Clare is working, so the boys are coming with me on the bus, then we're going swimming, then a Subway or something for lunch. A good day.

Kevin and the boys are visiting this week, but I don't think we're seeing them until tomorrow. Will be nice for our boys to catch up with their american cousins.

Was thinking yesterday, when I read this back in years to come, what will I think of how I only talk about the pub and not about world affairs? Yes I am unhappy about the situation in Ukraine but think it's a bit out of my hands. A bit. I made some donations to DEC2 and the red cross3, seems like the best option right now. Here have a flag too 🇺🇦 that is the sort of gesture people are making online. Hoping it will all be resolved soon. Surely there are multiple James Bond style assignments underway to sort this thing out?

Eighteen years ago today we saw The Cure at the Barfly. Yes stadium-goths in a 200 capacity room upstairs a pub, search it up, it happened.
