Blog2021 ≫ Runuary day thirty

Really heavy rain in the night, woke me up a bit earlier than I would have liked. I didn't get up until half eight or so, lovely lie in. Only thing two was up already, and he was quietly watching awful Minecraft influencers on the youtube. I fixed his and thing one's breakfast, took Clare up a cup of tea, and headed out for a run anyway. The forecast was bad for the whole day but it looked to have eased a bit, so up and out before breakfast. 5km, a bit hillier than usual, but that's my penultimate runuary day done. One more tomorrow, hope the weather is a bit better so I can go a bit longer, and then a few days off the running.

I ran to sandgate and around Napier Barracks1, where the trouble was yesterday. I could see one of the dormitory-like buildings was fire damaged, but it seems a bit rich for anyone to be complaining about wanton distruction of our heritage - the vast majority of that area has been demolished recently ready for redevelopment. If it wasn't being used as temporary housing for asylum seekers (probably inappropriate housing at that) this also would have surely been demolished by now.

Brexit is still holding up my new running shoes from On Running. They're due on Tuesday now. I will have given up running again by then.

Dad has his coronavirus vaccine booked, part one and part two also! Things are really moving. We'll all be on holidays again before you know it. Holidays in the UK only of course, we're just not welcome in Europe any more, but we can still make it nice.

Twenty years ago today Cooper Temple Clause at the Barfly. I really really liked them at the time and thought they were the future, very much a passing fancy.

A lovely bit of poetry from Tim Key2. Tempted to go and have a sit in the hallway myself now.
