Blog โ‰ซ 2021 โ‰ซ Morning, routine

Finished Spiral last night, I think actually finished too. That's the end of series eight and it looks like it might be the last one. They could come back again, I hope they do. I also watched twenty minutes of Snowpiercer1, and am going to try and do this each day this week. The ideal way to watch a film. This is because we're back to the routine now, very early to bed so Clare can get up at half five in the morning for work. Also this film is way too distopian for Clare to watch, she doesn't like stuff like that, even if she would be playing a game on her phone all the way through it.

Morning routine is a bit of a trudge, but at least it's not a rush getting up that early. Plenty of time for a cup of tea, Duo Lingo, and see what my friends were chatting about on Signal after I went to bed. Then shower while Clare was scraping the ice off the car. There was a little more snow overnight but it has just frozen hard. Make the breakfasts and the lunches in advance, wake the boys up, and start up the chilli in the slow cooker again for dinner later this week. Then wake the boys up again, make sure they're dressed and teeth brushed. Then set up the computers in the right rooms, open the tabs the boys need throughout the day and print out some pages too. Then I'm just about in time for work and a full day begins.

When I am just a brain in a jar at some point in the future hopefully we'll still have access to these thoughts and complaints, so someone can say "28x-great-grandpa you might find existince in this jar boring, but remember what those days of coronavirus lockdown were like and think how lucky you are".

I forewent my traditional Sunday night Nine Dragons takeaway as I had plenty of food in and didn't want to go out in the cold. Also trying to keep the spending down a bit so I can really feel the benefit when I hit the "two pay days in one month" soon (we now get paid every four weeks instead of every month).

No run yet today, as already mentioned very icy out there. Sun is out now, so hopefully I can go when Clare gets in. It will be dark again by then but hopefully not slippery. Hey, this is my last Monday of actual runuary! next Monday won't be a drinking day even though dryanuary will be over. A week on Friday is going to be the day for opening some of that new wine I think...

A big day for gig anniversaries. Catatonia twenty-five years ago today, then mostly bands I only saw once. Twenty-three years ago an average NME Brats gig (but featuring Asian Dub Foundation who recently collaborated with Stewart Lee), twenty-one years ago Beta Band, twenty years ago today Phoenix, and nineteen years ago Jimmy Eat World. Mostly at the Astoria.
